About This Retreat

For writers, photographers, and anyone whose creative well has run dry. Six days in the Tirthan Valley - gateway to the Great Himalayan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site - with morning writing prompts, afternoon photo walks through ancient villages, and evening sharing sessions around a fire.

The Tirthan River runs crystal-clear through the valley. The forest canopy is dense enough to filter the light into something photographers dream about. The villages - Gushaini, Banjar, Shoja - are unhurried, photogenic, and welcoming.

Facilitated by a professional photographer and a published writer. Aishani Paul consults on the retreat structure to ensure creative blocks are addressed holistically - not just as a skills problem but as an emotional one.

No Instagram posting during the retreat. No performance. Just the practice. Accommodation is in a riverside cottage. Meals are Himachali home-cooked. Groups are kept to 8 people maximum.

Creative facilitators (with Aishani Paul advisory)

This retreat is facilitated by a professional photographer and a published writer, with the retreat structure designed in consultation with Aishani Paul, RCI-licensed clinical psychologist. Aishani's input ensures that creative blocks are approached as emotional and psychological patterns, not just technical challenges.

Founder's Note

Tirthan is the valley where Before Maps started - I wrote the first journey description sitting in a cottage above the river, listening to the water. When I decided to create a retreat for creatives, there was no other option.

The light in Tirthan is different. Photographers know what I mean - the canopy filters it, the river reflects it, and in the golden hour the entire valley turns into a studio. I asked Aishani to help shape the retreat structure because creative blocks aren't always about creativity. Sometimes they're about exhaustion, fear, or perfectionism. Her framework helps people see that.
