Why We Added Rishikesh (And Almost Didn't)

I almost didn't include Rishikesh. The whole point of Before Maps is discovering places before they become mainstream.

But Rishikesh is two places. The tourist Rishikesh and the 5 AM aarti at Triveni Ghat with no tourists.

The question was: can we connect it to something unexpected? That something is Chamba - 1,400-year-old temples, a living bazaar, the Bharmour temple complex.

Classic pricing. Easy difficulty. Sometimes you just need to look harder at the places everyone thinks they already know.
